Welcome

I am a freelance web designer & developer based in Sacramento, CA. I specialize in small business, miva merchant ecommerce stores, wordpress, and artist/musician sites. Graphic design services (i.e. cd covers, newsletters, logos, banners, etc.) are also available.

I originally just set up this blog to play around with Blogger and see what it can do, but I've decided to use it to post some web design, graphic design, and general tech thoughts and tips. I hope they can be of use to you!

Please see ChrisJanus.net to view my full portfolio. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss a project!

Janus Design Sponsoring Reno-Tahoe WordCamp 2011

I am SO looking forward to this year's Reno-Tahoe WordCamp on June 4-5, 2011!

Feel free to get in touch if you will be attending - I'm looking forward to meeting some other designers and developers to geek out on some Wordpress!

Don't Mess With The Trees

So I was out trimming my front yard tree the other day. I happened to slightly nick myself with the saw, but quickly noticed the dark blood quickly oozing out of my hand. Apparently, I had nicked a good vein on my wrist. It wasn't that bad and stopped bleeding after a few minutes of pressure, but you probably couldn't tell that from the trail of blood from the sidewalk to the front door of our house. Awesome. Anyway, that inspired me to make this gore version of the Lawn Master photo...

Wacky With The Tools

Practicing some photo editing techniques with the photoshops. And yes, I am indeed quite the lawn enthusiast (aka 'lawn dork') these days. Who knew??

(Side note: this picture is actually for an old inside joke between me and my friend, Mike, involving New Year's Eve, drunkeness, and a snowblower. I took the picture as a little 'tribute' to him on his birthday.)

The Googles Blag

I had originally just set up a blogger profile for testing while working on a previous project, but now I've decided to tinker around with it more and see what it can do. Plus, I'm going to try to push myself to post something regularly, whether it's a tutorial, opinion or observation about web design, new designs or ideas i'm working on, or just random internet banter. I'll have a blog section on the next revision of the main Janus Design site, but this will do for now!

I'm definitely looking to meet other designers/developers, so feel free to chime in if you have something to add!
